At 4.56pm on Friday, June 8, Lachlan lifted the Jabiru J170C into the air off runway 01 at Moree Aerodrome, in perfect calm and overcast weather conditions.
Fred Nolan, chief flying instructor gave Lachlan some advice as he stepped out of the plane.
“The Jabiru will lift off earlier and float longer in the landing without my weight,” he said.
“See you when you get back ... and it’s your shout!”
Observing the flight walking back to the hangar, Fred added, “it was a perfect landing, just before dark at 5.06pm, he did well”.
Lachlan is working in Moree until September, doing field assignments at Peter and Barb Glennie’s “Norwood” cotton property north of Moree, as part of his agricultural degree.
His father Michael Moloney is also a pilot.
