Children from Goodstart Early Learning Moree took part in this year’s event at Moree Community Library, during which they dressed up as their favourite characters and read this year’s chosen book – Hickory Dickory Dash, written by Tony Wilson and illustrated by Laura Wood.
Once they’d finished reading Hickory Dickory Dash, the children enjoyed creating their own mouse finger puppets and singing the classic nursery rhyme Hickory Dickory Dock from which the book is based.
Held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), National Simultaneous Storytime is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Foundation to Year 6.
