The final score between the Gunnedah Bulldogs and the Moree Suns read 25.23 (173) to 9.9 (63) but it wasn’t until the second half that the Bulldogs did the bulk of the damage.

Gunnedah shot out to a 31-point lead after the first quarter before the Suns reeled the margin back in a touch.
Moree kicked five goals to four in the second term to see the deficit reduced to 28 points going into the major break.
Then, the Bulldogs ramped – and straightened – things up.

The Dogs went from kicking 8.14 in the first half to 17.9 in the second.
Moree Suns president Shane Hadley said the Bulldogs proved too good for the still-developing Moree side.
“Experience and match practice prevailed for the Bulldogs who romped through the final quarter, slotting 10 goals,” he said.
“Promise was shown by two debutants on the Moree side as the team-building continued but the skill of the Doggies could not be denied on the day.”
Moree men’s best and fairest award, sponsored by Assef’s, went to Zach Collier, while Daniel Brown picked up the coaches award.
The Moree women also faced a tough match against the Inverell Saints, who defeated the home side 13.8-78 to 0.5-5.
“The round two rematch between saw the Saints – the 2017 premiers – prevail once more over the home side,” Hadley said.
“However the result showed great improvement conceding 72 less points in the match.”
Piper Phillis was the women’s best and fairest, sponsored by Emma O’Hern, while the coaches award was given to Annette Hadley.
