Moree Boomerangs coach Chris Binge was hoping for a more “complete” performance from his side when they came up against a much-improved Armidale Rams outfit on Sunday.

The Rams and the ‘Rangs were one win apiece heading into the round with Moree side coming into the round three encounter off a loss to local rivals, the Boars last Sunday while the hosts earned their first win in more than a year against Tingha Tigers.
The Boomerangs hit back from their last-start loss in emphatic style with a 60 points to 8 win over Armidale.
“The last two weeks have been pretty tough, we haven't had any trial footy so I think our first two competition games were tough hit outs,” Binge said.

“We got some consistency out of today [Sunday] - our combinations are building, we played some really good structure when we needed to and we completed a lot of sets.
“Our completion rate in the first half was about 91 per cent; we completed 15 out of 19 sets which sets a platform for any win.
“Overall, I am pretty happy with the performance.”
The opening stages of the match saw a tight tussle before the visitors blew the game open.
While his side posted 60 points, Binge was most impressed with their defence.
“Defensively we were good; to hold these guys [Armidale Rams] to eight points is a pretty good effort but more importantly it was a more all-rounded effort from what we wanted to do so [I am] pretty happy with that,” he said.
“We needed a bit more consistency and a bit more composure so we worked on that during the week and it just goes to show the work has paid off.
“We still have a long way to go but we a building towards something special, I think, so we are pretty happy with where we are at right now.”
The ‘Rangs are back on their home turf next Saturday against the second-placed Inverell Hawks.
The Hawks have posted two big wins from their two matches – with a bye in the second round – and Binge is aware his team will have to be fit and firing to match it with the in-form side.
“They [Inverell] are coasting along pretty well in the competition so it will be up to us to be competitive against them next week but I think we will be up for the challenge and we will give it a good crack,” he said.
“When Inverell is going good, the competition is going good.
“We know it is going to be a hard hit out but it is at our home ground so we hold ourselves pretty high back there but we have to work pretty hard off the field before we get the results on the field.”
The Rams will head to Glen Innes to take on a Magpies side who are yet to post a win on the field.
