The local school sent off three of their best swimmers to compete at the state-level swim event, with each swimmer delivering a golden performance.

Four time event-goer Ben Di Donna returned to the competition, swimming in the U11s 50 metres freestyle and backstroke, meeting his time in the freestyle swim and making a new personal best in the backstroke heat.

Mitch Beddos swam for the second time at the state-level swim event, breaking a personal best in the 50 metres freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke races.

“I’m one second faster than I was last year. I’m so happy with my personal best. I made it my 2018 goal to break my personal best,” he said.

Chloe Elbourne returned to Homebush for the fourth time, first diving into the pool when she was seven years old. She set a new personal best in her four swimming races in the U11 50 metres freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke, and 200 metres Individual Medley.

Mother Tammy said she was proud of all the competitors.

“As always, they showed commendable sportsmanship to each other and their regional teammates. The regional team managers have also commended the three swimmers on their fantastic sportsmanship and achievements. I and the other parents are so proud of the swimmers.”

Deputy principal Lindy Hosegood echoed Tammy’s praise, “The school is very proud of its swimmers. It has a good squad that is always achieving excellent results, whether it be in race placements or personal bests.”

The trio had been hard in training in the lead-up to the competitive race, with Chloe and Mitch crediting their success to the support of their parents and school, and the training from their swim coach.

“Mitch and I train with Angela Walker every weekend. Every morning we wake up at 6am and start training at 6.45am before school.
