Julia was one of two Moree people to volunteer at the Games, with Lisa Reed also making the trek to the Gold Coast.
Julia worked for the Mixed Zone Media, stationed at Carrara stadium.
“My duties were to direct athletes after they had completed their events through a tunnel to waiting media and then out through another door,” she said.
“I had such a wonderful time.
“It was amazing; I hugged many, gave encouragement and took photos for the althletes.”
While there were so many highlights for Julia, she said watching the opening of the Games, seeing the Aussie girls break the world record in swimming and the gymnastics team get a bronze medal were the standouts.
“There were so many amazing experiences,” she said.
