“The elders are our history. They impart knowledge to us. They guide and direct the youth of today,” Pius X and Moree Seniors Festival co-organiser Cherie Piening said.
The week-long event kicked off on Sunday with a church service and afternoon tea at Fairview Home for the Aged.
Here is a quick rundown of the fun week ahead, keeping you in the loop.
Tuesday: Author Noel Braun will deliver a talk at the Moree Community Library at 10:30am.
Wednesday: A two course lunch, entertainment from Peter Denevan and a presentation of the MPSC Senior Citizen of the Year Award at 10:30am at Moree Services Club.
Friday: Bingo with prizes and lunch courtesy of Moree Secondary College Hospitality class at 10:30am at Respite House.
Saturday: Barbecue lunch courtesy of Moree Lions Club and Entertainment at 11am at “Illabo” 363 Gwydirfield Road. Mixed Triple Bowls with trophies, and supper from Moree Services Ladies Bowling Club at 7pm at Moree Services Club.
“This week is about acknowledging the seniors,” Cherie said.
