Senior men’s captain Wyatt Roberts expects it will be a good game against the 2016 grand final contenders.
“I think it’ll be a tough game, Tamworth are usually pretty physical,” he said.
“It’ll be a close game if we get the numbers up but we should get a full side. I think we’ll do pretty well.”
While the Suns have gained a few new players this season, they’ve also lost some of their older, more experienced players due to age and various other commitments.
“We’ll have more young fellas than older ones this year,” Roberts said.
This will be the Suns’ fourth year in the Tamworth AFL competition and each year they have improved on the last.
Last year the Suns finished with three wins under their belt and Roberts is confident they can improve on that this season.
“I think the draw plays better for us this year,” Roberts said.
“The draw definitely helps us and I think we can get a decent side together for six wins.”
The Suns will have a home game every second week.
The first round action will kick off at 10am with the juniors’ match, followed by the women at 12pm. The senior match will kick off at 2pm. There will be a canteen running and tickets being sold for the Suns AFL Club Mother’s Day raffle.
