Aaron Solomon and Donna Horton (now Mr and Mrs Solomon) took surprise to the next level by hosting their surprise wedding as an engagement party in their new DieselGas Moree workshop on 10 Blueberry Road.
It was a celebration that marked two significant milestones; their marriage and their new premises, a testimony to their personal and business relationship.
Having been together now for almost five years, engaged for two, Donna joined Aaron at DieselGas Moree (DGM) in business partnership in June 2015.
The couple thrived together embarking on their business journey, soon becoming Morees only Bosch Diesel Fuel Systems Specialists, Bosch Car and Diesel Service, Volvo Penta, Lister Petter and Perkins Dealership and WPT Clutch Reseller.
In fact, for the past two financial years DGM has topped Volvo Penta Industrial Engine Sales and WPT Clutch Sales Australia-wide, an achievement held with great pride.
The business evolved further, diversifying into the performance field through the purchase of a Mainline Dyno, complimented by a strong business relationship with Steinbauer, Rocket Industries and Beaudesert Exhausts.
Primarily, DGM service customers in the New England region, including Moree, Narrabri, Wee Waa, Burren Junction, Pilliga, Garah, Mungindi, St George, Surat, Collarenebri, Lightening Ridge, Walgett and Breeza Plains.
Their services for the farming sector range from diesel fuel injection, turbochargers, exhausts and related heavy diesel repairs, field service (including annual maintenance) as well as the sale of Stationary Irrigation motors, clutches and spare parts.
Providing this service to the district isnt just what they do, its who they are and now the team look forward to better equipping their customers in the new facility.
Situated near Morees local airport and new Gateway development, the new workshop features one 13mx6m specifically designed Bosch Pump Room, office and customer lounge, one 13mx6m Mainline Dyno bay for performance works, and four 13mx6m working bays, with a hoist operational in three bays and the fourth having been established for stationary engine repairs.
Prior to the build, we conducted considerable research on the structure so as to be purpose built to suit the industry in which we are dealing with; that being, Diesel Fuel Injection, Diesel Mechanic and the Industrial and Agricultural field, Aaron said.
Since the opening of the new premises on January 8, 2018, business has continued to boom, ultimately accommodating the service requirements out west, providing employment opportunities and facilitating growth within the shire.
On March 10, 2018, it was time to swap spanners for bouquets.
Friends and family helped move vehicles and engines to make way for tables and chairs.
Its as if everything has finally come together! New workshop, a great team plus our wedding, Donna said.
It was absolutely exhilarating being able to hold our surprise wedding in our very own workshop surrounded by friends and family and to top it off, my mother (now Aarons mother-in-law) officiated the ceremony!
Only about eight or so people knew it was actually going to be a wedding, not even the bridesmaids knew! I loved how well we melded the celebrations with the workshop, like using the hoists as nibble stations.
I think what really made the night work was that at the beginning of the evening, Aaron and I arrived in cocktail attire so no one really suspected a thing.
At dusk, it was time to say I do. Donna quickly changed into her wedding dress (purchased locally) and her father, Clifford Horton, walked her down the aisle - or in this instance, the spare parts staircase - to meet her husband-to-be between the hoists.
Its not often a guy gets to say that he has married his best friend and business partner in a building they have designed and built together, Aaron said.
Now that these two love birds have said they Solomonly swear, who knows what surprises will be next!
