Byron Birch and Kendall Tait have had some setbacks in the lead-up to this Saturday, with both suffering injuries.

Earlier this year Byron injured his leg playing rugby and, more recently, Kendall suffered a strain to her pectoral/shoulder area.

Last week she was on light duties for dancing but Byron said she should be okay come the big performance.

“It’s improved a little over the week after resting it, so we’re hoping it’ll be right,” he said. 

“We’ve changed a few moves so she doesn’t have to use that arm.

“We’ve had a lot of help from close friends giving us advice.”

Kendall and Byron have hinted that they’ll be performing a swing style dance.

Byron said their rehearsals have been going well, although he think they’re the last couple to get a full routine.

“We’ve made bits up as we’ve gone along; we’re just working on the last part and perfecting it now,” he said.

The pair – an agronomist and general manager of Tait Auto Group – are well-known among the Moree community and said they’re feeling the nerves ahead of performing in front of a sell-out crowd on Saturday night.

“The competition’s pretty fierce but we’re looking forward to it,” Byron said.
