Barwon LAC have since carried out extensive searches and appealed for public assistance.
Inspector Martin Burke said sightings have been reported in Moree, Tamworth, Gunnedah, parts of South East Queensland, and the North Coast of NSW between Newcastle and the QLD border.
“The last possible sighting was on the North Coast on a train between Grafton and Kyogle.
“We’ve worked closely with Countrylink, looking at passenger manifests and reviewing CCTV footage.
“However, we’ve been unable to confirm if that was Mr Torrens,” he said.
Insp Burke said police would continue to search for the man who answers to ‘Torro’.
“Until we have evidence to suggest otherwise, we don’t rule anything out.
“We’ll work to follow up on all sightings until we find that clue, whether it’s a piece of CCTV footage or a piece of clothing, that can confirm it’s Mr Torrens.
“Until then, we’ll continue to keep an open mind.”
Police are urging anyone with information in relation to Mr Torrens disappearance to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au/
