Across the Northern Tablelands more than $180,000 will be spent on school maintenance projects according to MP Adam Marshall.
Moree Secondary College has received $21,200 for flooring and painting and Moree Public School $48,146 for painting works.
Warialda High School and North Star Public School also received funds for painting.
“This is a terrific Christmas present for our schools and follows significant investment in improving educational facilities right across our region again this year.”
“Not only will needs-based funding from the State Government for our region’s schools increase by another $3 million next year, under the original Gonski reforms, but many school students and teachers will see upgrades to their schools when they return.”
Earlier this year Mr Marshall opened the $16 million rebuild of Moree East Public School and a $1.2 million upgrade of Glen Innes High School, currently underway, will be completed over these holidays.
In June this year, as part of the 2017-18 NSW Budget, Mr Marshall announced that a new high school would be constructed in Armidale, at a cost of more than $65 million.
Mr Marshall said that during the last school holidays almost $250,000 was invested by the government in improvement projects at five local schools and he was delighted another six would get some attention this time round.
“Every child deserves to have access to great facilities, wonderful teachers and get an excellent education and that is exactly what is being delivered for students here in the Northern Tablelands.
“We are making good use of the summer break to carry out important projects while students are off enjoying their holidays.”
The summer holiday blitz is part of the NSW Government’s record $747 million school maintenance investment over the next four years announced in the 2017-18 Budget, allowing each and every school across the State to have their maintenance project lists slashed by December next year.
