Warialda Public, St Joseph’s Warialda, Gravesend and Yetman. The standard of cricket was outstanding high throughout the day with big hits being displayed by many of the girls against the boys bowling.
The overall winner’s honours for the day went to the Gravesend Sydney 6er’s who remained undefeated throughout the day, showing amazing sportsmanship and cricket skills.
Principal Mr Vanvelthuizen provided the most amazing school venue for the games. Thanks and congratulations goes to the school on the amazing high quality sports field and facilities that were on show for the day.
The students also enjoyed a BBQ which the Principal cooked for the students to add to the festive spirit of the event.
The small schools from Yetman and St Joseph’s combine for the day and learnt a great deal about cricket but also made many new friends during the event. Thanks goes to all the teachers and secondary students from Warialda High school who umpired and scored games throughout the day.
A highlight to end the day was Syd 6er’s from the Sydney 6ers made a visit to Warialda from the SCG to say high to all the boys and girls participating in the event.
Following the success of the T20 Blast Schools Cup and the Warialda Junior cricket only hosting their Saturday program for term 4 this season it has been agreed to establish a stage one junior formats cricket program at Warialda Public School in term one.
The program will be hosted on a Wednesday. After at the school from 4.30pm to 6.30pm commencing on Wednesday, February 21 to March 28.
Cricket NSW is currently seeking a local program co-ordinator in a paid honorarium position to work with CNSW casual staff to host the program. A working with children clearance is required to take on the position.
Players aged 9 to 13 years are the target age group to participate. The program requires a minimum of 24 players to be viable – that is four teams of 6 players so the ideal target is 36 players with all teams having nine players.
Many juniors from Warialda also travel to Moree and Inverell to play their cricket on a weekly basis. The aim of the small schools T20 Blast Schools Cup is to ensure that students at all school are aware of cricket playing opportunities that exist around their towns.
Thanks, goes to all schools who participated this year. It is hoped that we will host another day in Warialda to kick start the 20117/18 season in mid-September 2018.
