Despite close to 200 riders making the trek to Moree from all over the east coast, round three of the Go Girls Racing Australia 2017 MX Series had to be cancelled after just one race due to Saturday’s downpour.

“We got one round of practice in and did one race and then it started to pour down rain, so we had to call it off,” Moree Motorcycle Club president Rory Johnson said.
“We tried again on Sunday and sent some bikes out on the track but it was just too wet.”
Moree Motorcycle Club was hosting the third and final round of the series, but since it couldn’t go ahead, the results were tallied from the first two rounds and a presentation was held in Moree on Sunday.
Although the round was unable to go ahead, Johnson said Go Girls promoters are keen to return to Moree next year.
“It’s only onwards and upwards,” he said.
“The outcome for next year looks good, Go Girls want to come back. We’re hoping to be a permanent fixture in their series.”
Go Girls Racing Australia was established in 2004 and is the only series in Australia that runs full classes for females.
“It gives girls starting out the opportunity to give it a go but it also gives the better girls the opportunity to race against each other,” Go Girls Racing Australia president Nicole McIntyre said.
“It’s a great opportunity to meet other females and race against them. It’s growing slowly.”
McIntyre said the Moree committee were excellent to work with and they’re hoping to do something back in Moree next year.
Moree Motorcycle Club will now look ahead to their next major event, as hosts of the state qualifying round in May 2018.
The Go Girls event was the local club’s final event of the year. They’ll have a break over Christmas before starting back next year with a practice round in February and the first race in March.
