Mouth watering dishes will be on display in more than 50 stalls and local connoisseurs can try several regional wines and craft beers.
“We’re looking to highlight what’s produced in the region and a little bit beyond. It’s amazing what there is around the place,” organiser Sean Taylor said.
Celebrity chef Lyndey Milan, known for a wide range of television cooking shows, including Fresh with the Australian Women's Weekly, will give three cooking demonstrations on the day.
Chefs from TAFE NSW will also give demonstrations, and will host the already sold-out degustation dinner in the evening.
A wine tasting and canape night will also be held on Friday, November 10, from 6.30pm. Tickets are $45, available at www.trybooking.com/SJOZ.
Producers will visit from all over the New England, including Tingha, Armidale, Tamworth, Narrabri and Uralla. Even further afield will be tastes from the Clarence Valley and Dubbo.
Carolyn Ditchfield from Inverell’s Funki Munki is thrilled to be part of the event, and loved to see how it had grown in just three years.
“It’s helping people connect back to their food,” she said.
“So many people are disconnected from their food, and this is actually meeting and greeting the people who actually make it and hearing the story behind the making. It’s not just a box sitting on a shelf.”
Running from 8am to 3pm, entry to the market day is free. The bar will open after 11am. Evans Street will be closed from 6am to 5pm.
