After qualifying throughout the season, around eight athletes from Moree made the top placings to advance to the competition in Sydney, returning with some pleasing results.
From Saint Philomena’s Moree Xanthe Cogan, Zara Cogan and Toby O’Neill competed at the carnival
Xanthe Cogan placed fourth in the state for the 1500m and 12th in the 800m.
Zara Cogan also competed extremely well, placing 17th overall in the 800m event.
Toby O’Neill ran an exceptional race placing 10th overall in the 1500m event.
Staff and fellow students of Saint Phillies showed their pride in the students as they returned from the competition.
Meanwhile, Darcy Brazel, Charlie Grant, Kye Boland, Jesse James, Sam Custance and Connor Ross all competed from Moree Public School.
Darcy Brazel placed fourth in his heat for the 200m event missing out by just a second for the finals.
Charlie Grant said he had fun because it was a new and different experience for him.
“ In the 100m, I ran 14.29 which was a PB. In the 200m I ran 30.02,” he said.
Kye Boland placed 18th overall in the 100m event. He said it was a good experience to be around friends and other coaches.
Jesse James saw some amazing results placing third in his head for the 100m and 200m. He also placed fifth in his heat for the 800m.
Sam Custance and Connor Ross were part of the junior boys relay team.
“The four boys in the relay had a lot of fun and achieved a group PB,” Sam said.
