Moree elder, Aunty Val Dahlstrom has designed a new app to ensure younger generations understand Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history since colonisation.

The app, in the form of a solitaire game, provides players with insights into the events that have shaped the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
“Every resource that helps raise awareness of Aboriginal health needs is a step closer to closing the gap,” Ms Dahlstrom said.
As GP Synergy’s Aboriginal liaison officer, she is passionate about her work in training GPs about the complex social, cultural, and clinical aspects of successful Aboriginal health service delivery.
“Equipping GP registrars to provide culturally safe health care is a priority for GP Synergy,” she said.
The app was launched at this year’s Australian Indigenous Doctors’ Association (AIDA) conference held in the Hunter Valley.
“Launching the app at the conference seemed fitting, given AIDA’s success in supporting our Indigenous medical students and doctors to achieve better health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people,” Ms Dahlstrom said.
