Come Sunday, September 17 the Saint Philomena’s grounds will transform into a hive of activity and adventure for young and old, with the annual event a highlight on the community calendar.
An array of stalls including face painting, jumping castle, fairy floss, cakes and sweets will entice the youngsters, while garden, pre-loved books and trash and treasure stalls are just some of the many on offer for adults.
Fete coordinator Bec Quilty encouraged everyone from the community to enjoy the Spring Fair, with the relaxed atmosphere perfect for a family day out.
“There is so much to do and see, the Spring Fair is a lovely way to spend a Sunday.”
The highly popular fairy den will again be a feature.
‘Little girls can be spotted in the fairy den creating and decorating wands, painting, sipping pink lemonade and wearing tiaras.
“For a different pace, the motor bike and train rides are always incredibly popular,” she said.
And with a number of food stalls, she said lunch time options were plentiful.
“There is certainly a bit of friendly rivalry between some of the dads on the different barbecues, so it’s fair to say the food on offer is pretty spectacular.”
Mrs Quilty is also calling on any parents from Saint Philomena’s who may be able to volunteer, while anyone in the community can donate stall items such as old books, clothing and bric-a-brac.
“The Spring Fair is one of the school’s major fundraisers, with funds raised going directly back into Saint Philomena’s, so any support we can get in the form of volunteers or donations is very much appreciated.”
The St Philomena’s Spring Fair will be held at the school on Sunday, September 17 from 10.30am until 2pm
