The Facebook-based competition which launches today encourages residents and visitors to share their own photos of the people, community, buildings and landscapes of the Moree Plains Shire to the My Moree Facebook page.
The photos with the most likes and shares will then be shortlisted and showcased in a My Moree exhibition at the Moree Plains Gallery during September, with some amazing prizes to be awarded to the winners.
“This is an opportunity for everyone to stop and appreciate the beauty in our local landscapes, people and our everyday lives in this town, and share that with others,” My Moree’s Susannah Pearse explained.
“With page likes over 3,000 and an audience spread not only in Moree but also across the world, it is also an opportunity for any budding amateur photographers to showcase their work to a broader audience.”
Prizes of a $500 voucher to spend on photography equipment at Harvey Norman will be awarded in the following categories: People; Place; Plain Life; and a People’s Choice award which individuals can vote on at the Moree Plains Gallery.
A special Grand Jury Prize will also be awarded, with the winner not only receiving a $500 voucher but also a Ultimate Moree Plains Day package for the winner and five friends including a catered lunch at Trawalla Pecan Nut Farm, Mick’s Limousine transfers, and a soak and sauna at Moree Artesian Wellness Centre to finish.
The entries will be judged on their popularity on Facebook (likes and shares), as well as their creativity.
Further details and full terms and conditions of the competition are available on the My Moree Facebook page or by contacting Moree Plains Shire Council on 6757 3222.
