Rita fist arrived in Moree in 1951 with her husband Bruce.
The two fell in love with the town and decided to nestle down.
They were school teachers at Moree High School before opening a general store which they ran for more than 40 years.
During that time they established many regular customers who soon became close friends.
Rita has a passion for education and returned to casual teaching in her 50s.
The eager teacher continued her career well into her 80s. Many former students and store customers still greet her in the street which gives her immense pleasure.
She's been a long time member of the Moree Uniting Church congregation which she considers her second family.
