A 7am tee-off started day’s the four-person ambrose event with a second group of golfers joining in the afternoon.
With a final score of 52.9 David Gulliver, Matt Coleman, Sandy Cosh and Grant Bussell were the overall winners on the day.
The dream team were followed closely behind Mark Munro, Kyle Munro, Jenny Munro and Brett Wright with a score of 54.9.
In third place, with a decent 56.9, was Carolyn Carter, Dave Carter, Sam Carter and Steve Scholl.
Craig Walton, Justin Walton, Jack Warner and Jai Cook placed fourth with 57 points.
Nearest to the pin was Steve School with 1.43 metres on the seventh and Ken Amos on the 17th measuring 68 centimetres.
Breanna Purse secured the ladies long drive and Soso Tuala took it out for the men.
Westpac Rescue Helicopter Support Group president Gary Cosh said the event was a record breaker for participant numbers.
“The weather was kind to us, the people were kind and the business houses in Moree were kind. Overall it was a successful day and everyone had a good time,” he said.
Combined with the barbecue, raffles, a chipping competition on the seventh hole, individual donations and business donations, Mr Cosh predicts a decent donation to the service.
“The Vic Hotel Social Club and Mobas Moree donated $1000 each, we also had three or four individual donations and the golf club are going to make a donation as well,” he said.
The Moree Men’s Shed creatively crafted some wooden trophies for the event, free of charge and business houses donated great items for the raffle.
“Matt McGuire in the pro shop did a great job of organising the golf side and the course was great. We couldn’t have been happier with this year’s event.”
With 140 participants last year, the charity day has become a popular event for beginners and experienced golfer.
A new AW139 helicopter is on its way to service Moree in the near future.
