Hammond is ready to take on Sugar-Kane Buckley who has had 20 professional fights in his career.
Organiser of the event, Danny Cheetham, said there would be plenty of entertainment on the night.
“Cameron has been training six days a week in preparation for his fight and he is quietly confident that he will win. I think he is a little nervous fighting in front of his home crowd but we expect big things from this fight,” he said.
There will also be seven local, amateur fighters keen to pump up the crowd, with the main amateur fight on the night going to James Duncan, hoping to keep his no loss victory going for his sixth ever fight.
“James is very special and has done everything right. He has lightning fast hands and we expect to see great things from him on the night,” Cheetham said.
First cousin of the ‘Hammer’ Curtly Hammond will be another of the amateur fighters on the night, ready to show his opponent that the ‘Hammer’ isn’t the only Hammond fighters should be scared of.
“Curtly has shown me he has the same gifted talents as his cousin Cameron and his fight should be a very interesting one,” he said.
Cheetham said all of the local amateurs had given 100 per cent in preparation for their fights and had been training six days a week to get a win at home.
“We travel all over NSW and QLD to fight and sometimes it’s in front of a hostile crowd but nothing beats being at your home town with all of your friends and family who can literally lift you up by cheering and supporting you on the night,” Cheetham said.
There will be three professional fights, including the Hammer’s, on the night and hopefully 14 amateur fights.
The weigh-ins for the professional boxers will be at the Royal Hotel on Friday night. Locals will get the chance to meet and chat with the professional boxers as well as buy tickets for the event.
“There is going to be ‘Hammer’ shirts available to buy to wear on the night to support Cameron and give him a lift,” he said.
The boxers will be at the Royal at 6.30pm for a 7pm weigh-in.
Tickets will be for sale on Saturday at the Moree town hall from 9am to 5pm.
