The Moree Boomerangs travelled out to verse the Mitchell Bartram Memorial Football team in a fun game of rugby league for all ages.
From all reports both sides enjoyed the game but the winners on the day was Mitch’s memorial team.
Mitchell’s sister Holly thanked the Moree Boomerangs for participating in the day and boosting the spirits of young and old players.
“A few of the Rangs players even picked up some of the kids and put them across the line for a try,” she laughed.
Moree's Kevin Rigby donated his time and knowledge again to referee the game.
An extra surprise on the day came from Peter Farell who flew over the oval in Pally and did a lolly drop.
“All the kids and the young-at-heart adults enjoyed the race to all of the lollies as well,” Holly said.
After the game, special awards were handed out to players who showed sportsmanship and skill.
The Mitchell Bartram Man/Woman of the Match went to Cale Hobday. The Tom Rhode Encouragement Award recipient was Josh Rigby and the Arron O’Neile Best Score of the Day went to Kristine Coulter.
Elaine Burnett-Ramsay and Keagan Fernando ran the barbecue on the oval and Kaitlyn Walton, Shay Bartram and Brittany Walton helped cook at the hall later on.
Proceeds from the barbecue will be donated to the Cancer Council and a magnificent raffle, with prizes donated by business houses, will benefit Audreey Duncan and her family.
Zoe Duke and Belle Humphries ensured celebrations and commemorations of Mitch continued well into the night with their DJing.
“The biggest most enormous thank you goes to the players from Mitch's side and the Rangs side for coming out and having a game without you this day could not happen,” Holly said.
She also thanked Tracey and Shay Bartram and Sheena Fernando for being a huge help on the Trust.
