International Children’s Day annually promote international togetherness and awareness among children worldwide.
This year Kiah Preschool were treated to a taste of Samoan culture.
Samuel, Soteria, Shontana and Luki Foster bought along their musical instruments and pictures of Samoa to sing and share with the students what life is like for children their age in Samoa.
“Do you guys walk a long way to school?,” Soteria asked the children.
“Noooooo,” they all replied, as the lucky students at Kiah have a bus to pick them up.
“Well when I was a little girl, around 5 years old I had to walk five kilometres to school from my home.
“I took my three children on that walk with me when we were in Samoa and you know what they said? ‘I am sooo tired this is a long way’,” she laughed.
NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group chairperson Denise Webb also visited the students and spoke to them about her role.
