Police from Barwon Local Area Command have been told a man entered a newsagency on Gosport Street about 7am on Sunday, September 10, and threatened an employee at the front counter with a knife.
The man was confronted by another employee, who heard the confrontation.
He then left the store running across Gosport Street towards the Newell Highway.
Officers from Barwon Local Area Command are investigating the incident, and wish to speak to a man who they believe can assist with their inquiries.
The man is described as being quite tall with a large build.
He was seen wearing a grey hooded jumper, black track pants and black runners with white soles.
