Seven-time Golden Guitar winner Luke O’Shea is back on Saturday night and will be joined by local band Avenue 4 Troy.
The festival will kick off at 6.30pm on Friday night with comedian Alan Glover, local singer-songwriter Merri-May Gill and popular country/rock musician Jess Holland.
Organisers Muz Hartin and Mitch Johnstone were tuning up on site this week but promised they would leave the music to the professionals – although Muz will be spruiking a few poems during the festival.
“It should be a lot of fun,” Muz said.
“Al Glover was a big hit last year as was Luke O’Shea and, with dry weather, we’re expecting good crowds.
“It’s also exciting to have a couple of local acts in Avenue 4 Troy and Merri-May Gill.
“And Saturday afternoon should be great with whipcracking by the Whibley Kids and performances by students from St Phillies, Moree Public School, the Moree Brass Band, the Moree Pipes and Drum Band and the Moree Community Choir.”
Tickets are available at the gate – $25 Friday night, $30 Saturday/night, $15 Saturday (for parents to watch kids) and $50 weekend pass. Kids under 18 are free.
A licensed bar will operate on Friday and Saturday, there will be barbecues, Birchy’s famous paella on Friday night, Sushi on Saturday plus ice cream and coffee.
Buses will leave from the Moree Golf Club 5.30pm and 6pm on Friday night followed by pick-ups at the corner of Heber and Auburn streets, the Moree Post Office and the Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre.
Return trips will be at 10pm and 10.30pm Friday and Saturday. Buses on Saturday will run at 4pm, 5pm and 6pm and there is also plenty of parking.
“It’s all coming together, we’ve had a lot of support from the community plus Moree Plains Shire Council and Adam Marshall also found some funding for us,” Muz said.
“Plus Mitch, the Johnstone family and the team at JCQ have been fantastic in setting up the site. It’s very pretty by the Mehi at night so why not come and check it out and enjoy some great entertainment.”
