Library coordinator Samantha Geatches encourages writers and performers of all ages to come along and participate.
“The workshop is fantastic. You get to be creative and turn your thoughts and feelings into something that is compelling,” she said.
“There are also tips on delivering your work to the audience, whether you rap, speak, or sing your poems, stories, lyrics, and monologues. In the afternoon, you then get to deliver your literary work to a live audience.”
The event will be hosted by Zohab Khan, while Australian Poetry Slam champion, Arielle Cottingham, will deliver a set of her award-winning spoken word before the contestants take to the stage.
The winner will receive a $100 prize and a chance to attend the regional final. The workshop will go from 12.30pm to 3pm, before the heat gets underway at 4pm.
