Rangs’ ladies league tag were the first to take the field, suffering a tight loss against Glen Innes 14-0.
Head coach Chris Binge said said the girls played well but suffered from ball control errors at crucial points in the game.
“They’re a young side going places and if they believe in themselves and continue to play as a strong side, then they should see themselves in the finals,” he said.
Sitting third on the ladder, Moree’s under 18s fought hard to keep their top spot with only 15 players on Saturday.
“Due to a couple of suspensions the boys were down in player numbers but they performed extremely well considering.
“It was only because of a penalty 30 metres out awarded to Glen Innes that deadlocked the game 28-all,” he said.
The U18s will welcome back most of their players next weekend as they take on Narwan Eels at Armidale.
Meanwhile, Rangs reserves secured a convincing win over Glen Innes with the final score 52-4.
“Glen were down on numbers due to a couple of injuries so it was a valiant effort on their behalf. It was 36-0 at half time.”
Binge said as reining premiers, the Rangs reserves were sitting pretty in first, three points ahead of the Macintyre Warriors.
“The way they are playing it looks like they could definitely be minor premiers for 2017.”
Moree Boomerangs first grade dominated over Glen Innes, finishing up the day with a proud 64-10 win.
After a well earned rest last week, the boys were keen to go hard but Binge said the side wasn’t at full strength.
“We still had a few out with injuries from two weeks ago but we have a crucial game next weekend against Narwan and we need all of our players to be 100 per cent,” Binge said.
First grade halves Jamie Sampson and Rick Roberts led with the side’s solid forwards backing them up.
“We welcomed back Warren Cain who was supported by Brian Saunders, who has been outstanding the whole season.
“Outside backs Kyle and Jason Saunders also played very well.”
Players player was Alan McKenzie who backed up from U18s to play for first grade and scored six tries throughout the day; three in each game.
Rangs first grade are sitting second on the Group 19 ladder one point behind Mcintyre Warriors.
“From a whole club perspective; we are on the verge of our peak and already every one of our teams are sitting top five on the ladder,” he said.
