Moree’s Eric Dumas can add a few more world powerlifting medals to his growing collection after coming second overall in the Master 2 93kg division at the 2017 World Classic Powerlifting Championships, held in Minsk, Belarus.

The local dentist received gold in the squat section of the three lift competition with 250kg, and secured a bronze medal in the deadlift, lifting a personal best of 267.5kg. He placed sixth in the benchpress section with 140kg.
All up, he lifted 657.5kg, which earned him a silver medal in the Master 2 93kg division, just behind Great Britain’s Robert Rodney who lifted 703kg and ahead of Kazakhstan’s Gennadiy Melnik who totalled 652.5kg.
This was an improvement on Dumas’ 2016 World Championship campaign, which saw him place third overall, receiving a silver in the squat section and a bronze for the deadlift. At the end of last year, Dumas was crowned the best Master 2 lifter at the 2016 Asia/Oceania Powerlifting Championships for the third consecutive year.
