The National Parks and Wildlife Service area manager Martin Linehan said the service is planing to undertake a routine aerial shoot operation targeting a range of species from 9am on Wednesday May 17 until 5pm Friday May 19.
“At different times during the operation sections of the Park will be closed to the public. These areas will be clearly sign-posted in advance,” Mr Linehan said.
“The Bark Hut and Dawson Springs Campgrounds and cabins, Nature Trail, Euglah Rock walking Track, Doug Sky Lookout, Summit walking track and Summit lookout will remain open at all times.
“We advise all visitors to stay on formed tracks and observe the instructions on closure notices.
“This operation, which will see the use of the NPWS chopper, is part of the region’s integrated pest management program.
“Aerial shoots, in conjunction with ground based control techniques such as trapping, poisoning and shooting, are an important component of our pest control operations, particularly in areas such as Mount Kaputar where other means of access are not readily available.
