About 50 residents packed into the dining room at James Perry Lodge on Monday for the short service, held a day prior to Anzac Day.
Each year Fairview holds a service to give all residents a chance to pay their respects to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in war.
“It’s for those that can’t get out and go to the proper march on the day,” Fairview Retirement Village CEO Brett Arthur said.
“They’re all old enough to have been through wars and know someone who has been effected, so it’s their way of commemorating.”
Mr Arthur was the MC for the service, with Laurel Briant, Liz Rushby, Henry ‘Jacko’ French, Sister Margaret Cusack and Elmer Knobel each saying a prayer or a few words. Maureen Carrigan and Sylvia Broderick helped out with the singing of the national anthem.
Residents wore sprigs of rosemary to remember our fallen soldiers and enjoyed a morning tea at the conclusion of the service.
