Seven cars in Moree and two in Narrabri have been stolen, while 19 other vehicles have been targeted by thieves who made off with wallets and other goods.
“These thefts are occurring with increasing regularity right across the command and most items, including the vehicle keys, are left in plain view making them easy targets for criminals,” Barwon Acting Superintendent Andrew Holland said.
Offenders are keen to take advantage of any item left in sight from sunglasses, cash, electrical devices, food and any type of bag.

“Unfortunately it is no longer the case that residents in country towns can afford to be complacent with crime prevention. We must work together to improve security, report criminal activity and protect our communities.
"If somebody sees a person that looks out of place or is acting suspiciously, call us … don’t hesitate, ringing the police is the right thing to do.”
