Motorbike riders will tackle shallow river crossings, flowing hilly trails, wide open paddock runs and twisty tree-lined single tracks at this year’s Upper Horton Trail Ride.
The highly-anticipated event will be held on May 6 and 7 for all riders around the region looking to test their off-road skills.
Peter Taylor of the Moree Motorcycle Club said Upper Horton provided some of the best single trails around.
“We are expecting up to 300 riders for the weekend, a lot of those families,” he said.
In it’s fifth year, the trail ride has grown in size and continues to provide better trails with each year that passes.
“There are some awesome new sections that have been added in,” Taylor said.
The trail’s main loop offers 40 kilometres of picturesque landscapes.
“There will be a separate hard section providing some tough riding for experienced riders to test their skills with rocky sections and steep hill climbs,” he said.
As a family friendly event, organisers have created a mini-enduro 1.8 kilometre loop for under nine-year-olds to learn the skills of bush riding.
There will be a separate hard section providing some tough riding for experienced riders to test their skills with rocky sections and steep hill climbs.
Each year the trail ride raises money for Upper Horton’s sporting clubs and the Moree Motorcycle Club.
“The Upper Horton Club provides a great venue for a camping and a social weekend.
“The camp site opens on Friday night,” Taylor said.
The club will be busy in the kitchen offering meals on Friday night and a roast dinner for all to enjoy on Saturday night.
There will also be a barbecue throughout Saturday and Sunday for all trail ride-goers. Pre entry forms are available at www.thomasleetrailride.com.au/horton_2017.pdf and entries will be taken on Saturday and Sunday morning.
However, entries up until 6pm on May 6 will go in the draw to win great prizes from Thomas-Lee Motorcycles Moree.
The draw will be held at Horton Sportsman’s Club at 7.30pm and winners must be present.
So start preparing your bikes and planning your weekend for May 6 and 7’s Upper Horton Trail Ride!
