As a resident of the town, what would you like to see done to combat the problem?
Moree Community Drug Action Team (CDAT) is calling for community opinions.
The team were granted funding to establish projects, however, it was decided on Tuesday to collate feedback from the community to see what they think would be best.
Under guidelines of the funding, CDAT suggested four different, possible projects.
The first would include alcohol and drug community education for parents and carers of youth in Moree, for example ‘The Other Talk’.
The second project would see alcohol and drug information/training for workers.
The training would arm workers with up to date information and data, and statistics on alcohol, cannabis and crystal methamphetamine. Family drug support ‘Stepping Stones’ program was the third project suggestion for families and friends who have someone they love addicted to drugs.
The program would equip local family members and friends with new knowledge and coping skills.
The final suggestion was to fund a family drug support facilitator to establish a drug support group in Moree.
The facilitator would need to find a safe location for regular meetings and encourage people to join and support one another.
To have your say on which of the four suggestions you would like to see held in Moree, contact CDAT president Linda Woodbridge via email linda.woodbridge@aph.gov.au. CDAT are always looking for new and active members to join and make suggestions.
