Before Tuesday’s games Artesian Glass were sitting top of the ladder on 22 points, followed closely by McDonald’s Concrete and Shicky Shake on 21 points.
Vatty Vautins were sitting fourth with 18 points and Tradies, Slashers and Burey’s Earthmoving were all on 16 points.
The first try of each game in finals round was awarded three points with any tries following awarded two.
Two C Grade games started the evening off with Cafe 2400 narrowly defeating Chesterfield 7-2.
The Stars, sitting 12th on the ladder, faced C and W, 13th on the ladder, and won 11-4.
Burey’s Earthmoving won by forfeit against Frack No in B Grade while Wii Not Fit defeated slashers 11-4.
The final two games of the night saw the best of the best face off just on dark.
Shicky Shake and McDonald’s Concrete went head to head but the standout team was Shicky Shake winning 12-5.
Artesian Glass held their reign as top of the table against Fatty Vautins with their impressive 19-4 win.
President Kevin Rigby encouraged all players to watch the grand final games next Tuesday.
“There will be a barbecue for all players and a chance to watch the A, B, and C Grade grand finals.”
Rigby said team numbers were up this season, with the summer competition usually being the most popular.
“The social competition has seen everyone play in good spirit and a few of us older ones have found it hard to chase after the new younger players so that’s been fun,” he said.
Anyone from the ages 16 and above are encouraged to play the social game each week.
The Tuesday competition is mixed.
A duty of care was taken a few times this season by the committee with the overbearing heat wave in Moree.
“The last thing we want is for a player to drop from heat or worse, so we did have to make some hard calls during this competition.”
A grand final draw will be posted on the Moree Services Club Touch Football Facebook page in the coming days.
The committee reminded all players they must be members of the Services Club and show their membership cards before playing, if they weren’t able to on Tuesday.
Rigby announced nomination were open for the winter touch football competition starting soon after Easter.
“Players and teams can give me a call to grab forms or head to our Facebook page.
“We do find that we loose a few of our men in the winter comp because of other commitments to rugby or league.
“Some people just don’t like leaving the house when it’s cold but it is always a good competition to be involved in,” Rigby said.
