St Philomena’s School student Jock Brazel has been selected to represent Moree in the Armidale Diocesan NSW Combined Catholic Colleges (NSWCCC) under 15s rugby league team.

Jock was one of 26 players from the Armidale Diocese, including fellow St Philomena’s student Bryce Raveneau, who competed at the northern region trials in Tamworth on Tuesday.
After playing three 20 minute thirds, Jock was thrilled to be one of 12 selected to progress to the next level of the NSW CCC rugby league competition.
“I was happy, really excited,” he said.
“I didn’t expect to be selected.”
Unfortunately, Bryce missed out on selection, despite playing well.
Jock will now compete for a spot in the Northern Country NSW CCC team at a trial in Smithtown on April 5.

“I can’t wait, I hope I got selected,” he said.
If Jock is successful at the upcoming trial on April 5, he will progress on to state level.
The year eight student has only been playing rugby league for the past year but that hasn’t stopped him from making a mark.
As well as playing for his school, Jock is part of the Moree United under 14s rugby league team.
He said he has quickly grown to love the game.
“I just like the toughness of the game and how intense it is,” he said.
Jock would like to thank his Moree Junior Rugby League under 14s rugby league coach Paul Raveneau who gave him some great advice on the day, and for all his help in preparing for the trials.
He would also like to thank St Philomena’s sports coordinator Anna Reed for all of her support as he makes his way through the school system.
The school and all of Jock’s family are very proud of his achievments.
“I certainly am proud of him,” Jock’s father Mark Brazel said.
