Willow Tree Public School hosted the event and despite storm clouds threatening and quite windy conditions the day ran smoothly for the 150 riders from schools across the Hunter and North West.
Moree Public School (MPS) students proved they were among the best.
Emily Mills and William Boland were awarded champion riders for their respective age groups; with Philippa Schoupp being awarded reserve champion.
Trixie Warburton placed second in the hack, third in the pleasure hack and fourth in both the riding class and barrel race.
Blayne O’Dempsey placed third in the riding class and Figure of Eight, fourth in the flag race, and fifth in the hack, pleasure hack and three mug race.
Paige Bowerman rode with equal competitive spirit and skill to be placed third in the flag race, fourth in the bending race and fifth in the three mug race.
Team coordinator Lindy Hosegood and team manager Rob Hosegood made special mention of the exemplary behaviour and horsemanship shown by students, noting they represented their school and their hometown Moree with distinction.
“It is also acknowledged that such a school activity is not possible without the support of the MPS principal, Mr Adrian King and the parents - so a hearty cheer of appreciation is also sent their way,” Mrs Hosegood said.
MPS representatives included: Emily Mills, Phillipa Schoupp, Blayne O'Dempsey, Paige Bowerman, William Boland and Trixie Warburton.
