From being picked on her hero Shannan’s team after being tricked into thinking otherwise, to the first training session and detoxing, to successful and unsuccessful challenges and the first eliminations and weigh-in, the first week in the house was full-on for Anna as she tried to find her feet.

“It’s actually been quite a difficult time,” she said.

“For myself, I was detoxing off coffee, so I was getting headaches; I was hangry … and running off a lack of sleep. I was just trying to find my feet at this stage, trying to find a rhythm to look after myself.”

In that magnified environment, Anna said it didn’t take long before she started to become self-aware of some of her bad habits.

“It was just go, go, go and I started realising that I was more concerned about boiling eggs and packing carrots and pears for everyone’s snack bags than I was looking after myself,” she said.

“The reason I went in was for Anna … but I always like to be a team player. So all of a sudden I was having these realisations about myself; this is where I need to change.

“I was more concerned about carrots, pears and boiled eggs than getting my gear organised. I was putting other people first.”

As the heaviest and one of the oldest girls in the house, Anna was particularly conscious of doing everything she could to avoid being below the yellow line.

“I was getting up early and training and doing everything to the T,” she said.

“Shannan told us no sitting around, so even when we were having break time, I was throwing a ball around or I was walking, walking, walking all the time. I was trying to burn as many calories as I could. I had to give it 100 per cent.”

Those efforts were rewarded at the first weigh-in on Sunday night, when Anna managed to lose a whopping 5.9kg.

“I was stoked; I’d worked for every bit of that 5.9kg,” she said. “I’d given it 100 per cent and that’s exactly what Shannan wanted.”

Unfortunately, Anna’s blue team lost the weigh-in, so three of her teammates had to battle it out to keep their place in the competition.

After forming such strong relationships with the other contestants, not just from her team, Anna said seeing other people go was difficult.

“[As soon as the first elimination came around] it became a competition. It just changed instantly; it happened so quick,” she said.

“I didn’t want to see anyone go. Everyone has a reason for being there.

“That was very hard.”

Since The Biggest Loser: Transformed aired last Tuesday night, Anna said she has been overwhelmed with support from the Moree community.

“I was walking down the main street the other day and saw a sign that say Go Anna. And then I saw other signs … there are signs in all the shops in the main street,” she said.

“I love Moree and I love my community. This is a positive thing. With kids, people see you getting out there and getting well, so hopefully I’m a good role model.”
