The event will be held on Wednesday, March 22 at the Goondiwindi Show Grounds, starting with a barbecue breakfast at 7.30am, donated by Nufarm.
The Field Day committee decided the focus for this year’s event should contain dry land cotton cropping systems.

“It is now an integral part in crop rotation in the valley; the tour will also include irrigated cotton and the Monsanto Extend Flex trial,” committee president Andrew Cook said.
The Macintyre Valley Cotton Field Day has been running for more than 20 years and is a not-for-profit organisation, which acts on behalf of the Macintyre Valley Cotton Growers Association in hosting the annual field day, awards dinner and charity golf day.
The annual events calendar relies heavily on the local industry volunteers and in-kind donations and sponsorship from local business.
Money raised goes towards the High School Bursary, which assists a student to further their tertiary studies at a university of their choice, in their chosen field.
The amount raised thus far is in excess of $61,000.

More than 250 attendees are expected at this year’s Monsanto Macintyre Valley Cotton Field Day on March 22.
Local area Monsanto representative Tom Luff will be on hand to talk about how Bollgard® 3 has performed in its first commercial season considering the hot, dry conditions and high pest pressure.
Tom will talk about Bollgard 3 defoliation, pupae busting and refuge requirements as well as options for ratoon management including plant line ripping, herbicide control and the requirement to mulch or slash within 30 days of picking.
“The Field Day is a great opportunity to get all the information you need in terms of how to manage your Bollgard 3 crop coming in to the end of the season,” Tom said.
“Overall, Bollgard 3 has performed well within the region this year, despite the heat we’ve seen.
“We had 39 new cotton growers in the Gwydir, Mungindi and Macintyre valleys this season highlighting the opportunities cotton provides.
“It has been a difficult season but cotton has held up much better than alternative summer crops so we’re looking forward to seeing picking results,” Tom said.
The Monsanto Field Day will also give growers an opportunity to see a current trial of Monsanto’s new weed control system, containing XtendFlex® Cotton.
“XtendFlex technology is the first triple-stack herbicide tolerant trait package, with tolerance to over the top application of glyphosate, dicamba and glufosinate herbicides.”
Tom said that XtendFlex technology would give growers added choice and flexibility to manage glyphosate resistant and hard to control weeds in their cotton crop.
“We are working with our partners and are still a few years away from launch but growers can take their first look at the XtendFlex technology at the Field Day, which is another great reason to come along,” Tom said.

Bollgard 3 cotton provides the latest in-built protection against the larvae of Helicoverpa spp, a significant pest to cotton.
