This year’s community clean-up event will take place on Sunday, March 5, with schools carrying out theirs on Friday, March 3.
Environment and compliance manager Belinda Olsen said council is proud to support Clean Up Australia Day.
“Clean Up Australia Day is one of the ways council works with the community to make our public spaces rubbish-free and more appealing for everyone,” she said.
“We encourage residents to take the opportunity to be part of the national initiative by donning a pair of gloves, a hat and lending a hand.
“Afterward, there will be a barbecue and beverages to thank our wonderful volunteers.”
With the costs associated with rubbish collection and the clearing of illegal dumping increasing, council encourages everyone to help clean up this Sunday.
Volunteers are asked to meet at the carpark on the north side of Dr Hunter Bridge at 8am on Sunday.
