For your safety, Moree Plains Shire Council has warned people to stop at the Tycannah Street level crossing as signs have changed from giveways.
“This means you must stop on approaching the level crossing and look to ensure that a train is not approaching before crossing over,” A MPSC spokesperson said.
Transport for New South Wales has recently completed renewal works on the Moree to Inverell Rail Line and upgrading the level crossing at Tycannah Street as part of the NSW Government’s Fixing Country Rail program being undertaken across the state.
The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) has taken over responsibility for management and maintenance of the line for TNSW.
“Thank you for your co-operation whilst we all adapt to the changing and increased use of the Tycannah Street level crossing as a result of these upgrades. These works will significantly increase the loading amount on rail to service the region. Achieving this helps to balance the use of road and rail freight to reduce costs for growers and boost the local economy.”
