On Thursday, December 29, Liz Hann returned to her home in Frome Street, Moree, after being away over Christmas to find that her home had been broken into and 80 per cent of the contents stolen.
Some of the items stolen include a barbecue, television, laptop, camera, iPhone, stereo, dvd player and dvds, dinnerware, cutlery, tupperware, kitchen electrical goods, linen, various homewares, children’s books and toys, toiletries, clothing, artwork, jewellery, and more.
Most upsetting for Ms Hann was the loss of sentimental items that can never be replaced, such as her Oma’s earrings which she wore on her wedding day, and rosary beads given to her from both her grandmothers before they passed away.
“I've been heartbroken, sad and angry, as well as rattled by what has occurred and it has affected myself, my daughter and my husband but we will slowly recover and rebuild a new life as time moves on,” Ms Hann said.
“The main thing is we have our health, each other, our family and close, loyal, loving friends and we will get over this. But our privacy has been violated and I no longer can trust people in the way I used to.”

Since the robbery, Ms Hann said she has been overwhelmed by support from the people of Moree with many donating clothes and other items to help the family get back on their feet.
“The community overall has been kind, generous and supportive and it has restored my faith in the people of Moree,” Ms Hann said.
“We have been overwhelmed by offers of help and assistance from people and will remain forever grateful not only to friends but complete strangers who were touched by this awful ordeal and wanted to help in some way. I want to say thank you to my workplace, family, friends and the community for all that they have done for us. I also would like to thank Moree police for their investigations into this crime.”
Ms Hann would like to warn others in the community to do everything possible to protect their homes.
”Look out for your neighbours, get Crimsafe, alarm systems, a dog and make sure you have contents insurance,” she said.
Anyone with any information about the break-in is urged to report it to Moree Police on 6757 0799 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
