Moree mud bomb enthusiasts spent weeks preparing their buggies, modified and standard vehicles for the popular annual event.
At one stage after the great rain in the weeks leading up, there was talk of the event being postponed.
However the track dried just enough to supply the perfect amount of mud.
Moree’s Errol Carter, who has been building and racing bombs since he was a teenager, took out first place in the modified class with Hershey.
He was followed closely by Boomi’s Pete Bukivich in Little Devout and in third place was Ashley’s Porky O’Neile in Steiny.
Sugar Daddy, driven by Porky O’Neile took out first place in the buggie class, Carter was second in Yetti and Moree's Grant Macey placed third in Eagle Rock.
The most popular class, the standards, was a tough race however Lismore’s Dave and Tom Hall finished first in Flogga.
The Hall’s started the day with high expectations as the retained Australian Standard and NSW Champions.
The boys were also named Mud Bomb Champions in the standard class for 2015.
Boomi’s Brooke Perrimen placed second in The General and Little Devil, driven by Dave Bayless, placed third.
Mud bomb of the Year was awarded to one driver from each class.
Hershey was named the Modified bomb of the Year, Flogga was the Standard of the Year and Eagle Rock took out top prize for his buggie.Carter said overall the day was a success, although numbers were down.
“There were five modifieds, eight buggies and 16 standards.
“It was a good day out and we want to thank everyone who helped on the day,” he said.
His daughter, Tarni Carter, raced Yowie and placed fourth overall on the day. If her impressive track time wasn’t enough, she was also named the top scoring female.
“The track changed a little this year, the corners were definitely tighter,” she said.
Backsides were track side with a decent crowd supporting the event.
