The workshop was presented by staff from the Alcohol and Drug Foundation (ADF) and focussed on topics such as what is ice, how does it impact on individuals and society, strategies to manage and treat people with addiction and discussions around de-escalating situations that could occur and understanding why.
Staff from Hunter New England Local Health District, Maayu Mali rehab centre, Aboriginal Medical Service and Flourish Australia attended the workshop.
Maayu Mali’s Rodney Tighe said the workshop was very beneficial for all involved.
“It’s a valuable resource for the ADF to come out to communities like Moree and link all services involved today,” he said. “A big part of it for these people is knowing that others are doing the same.”
