Hundreds of motorbike riders will spin their wheels in the North Star Trail Ride this weekend, kicking off eight weeks of events across the district.

The next two months will see plenty of things to do in and around Moree including a Boomi BATS performance, Fairview Fete, and an inaugural poetry, music and comedy festival.
The North Star Trail Ride will kick things off this weekend, followed by the North West NSW Heavy Vehicle Breakfast Forum on Tuesday, August 2.
Next weekend go along and browse the variety of stalls at the monthly Moree Markets which are on at Jellico Park on Sunday, August 7.
One of the much-anticipated events of the month is the Boomi Amateur Thespian Society’s biennial performance. This year they are putting on James Blonde 003.5 with six shows planned for August 19, 20, 26, 27 and September 2 and 3.
On August 19, 20 and 21 will be the Mungindi Boar Buster with prizes in a variety of different boar hunting categories, plus a U Beaut Ute competition, dog high jump and entertainment.
The Fairview Fete will be on Sunday, August 28 and as always will be a great day our for the whole family. The carnival-like event will feature plenty of stalls, fun activities, live entertainment and delicious food.
Probably the biggest event of the next two months is the inaugural Magic on the Mehi.
The three-day festival event will feature poetry, music and comedy on the banks of the Mehi.
There will be a kids’ poetry competitions, damper cooking and billy-boiling competitions, as well as bocce – which is a bit like bowls but played on the sand.
Saturday will be the main day of the festival, kicking off with the kids’ poetry competitions from midday, followed by live music into the evening.
The headline act will be six time Golden Guitar winner Luke O’Shea.
Magic at the Mehi will support the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and the Pallamallawa Public School.
