$35,000 has been allocated by state government to assist in the transition of the organisation to the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
Teacher and coordinator Debbie said that the funds would be used to upgrade technology and software as well as developing marketing avenues with a webpage and Facebook.
“We are going to be using the money for a variety of things, including putting technology in place to make our interaction with the NDIA that much easier,” Debbie said.
Previously funded by the state government the Moree and District Early Childhood Intervention Service will now receive funding on a case by case basis.
“Every child has the right to reach their full potential, some just need smaller steps and a helping hend to reach the stars.”
- Debbie Hamilton.
“One of the reasons that this organisation has received funding is previous to the NDIS they received block funding from state government, under the NDIS all of that ends and all of the funding comes from the National Disability Insurance Agency,” Mr Marshall said.
Funding no longer comes directly to the organisation, but to the families allocating the services who can elect to direct their funds towards that organisation.
Debbie and her staff work with children from birth to the age of seven, working with children with diagnosed conditions or developmental delays.
“Every child has the right to reach their full potential, some just need smaller steps and a helping hend to reach the stars,” Debbie said.
The funding has been allocated through the government’s Transition Assistance Program, helping disability support services to transition to the NDIS.
There is over $200,000 for six service providers being allocated throughout the Northern Tablelands electorate, two in each Moree, Armidale and Inverell.
