The event was hosted by the Moree Motorcycle Club at the Boolooroo MX track, and attracted 120 riders from Harvey Bay, Brisbane, Newcastle, Port Macquarie, Grafton and Maclean.
Moree Motorcycle Club president Peter Taylor said the weekend couldn't have gone better.
“The weather was perfect for riding, all of our visitors commented on how lucky Moree is to have such a good track and a great club,” Peter said.
“It was a great event, and we had a huge crowd out there, there would have been 150 spectators, locals who just came out to have a look,” he said.
The North Coast MX series was created by four MX clubs throughout the Northern NSW region, as an opportunity for riders to vie for positions and points and qualify for the state championships.
Riders, both male and female can qualify for state championships from as young as seven.
The club were impressed that 22 riders competed in the junior lite class, normally the class would attract only 10 riders.
“It’s great for the young kids as they are able to compare themselves with the competition from throughout the north west,” Peter said.
Peter said that local junior riders Oliver Marchand, Jackson Johnson and Sam Davis performed exceedingly well.
Local senior riders to make the podium included Chris Thomas, Neil Loder and Cameron Taylor.
Peter believes that the world class track plays vital role in attracting MX competitors to Moree.
“It gave them the opportunity to ride what has been voted on two occasions, one of the best tracks in Australia by professional MX riders from all over Australia,”he said.
This is the second year Moree has hosted the series, this year attracting more than 200 people to the region for the weekend.
The next round in the series will be at Hastings Valley on September 1, with many members of the Moree Motorcycle Club attending. You can keep up with all the action of the Moree Motorcycle Club on their Facebook page.
