The Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre (MAAC) recently hosted a surprise birthday at the pools following her daily soak, followed by a shindig at the RSL this weekend.
When asked how long she has lived in Moree, the energetic, quick-witted 90-year-old replied, “When did that fellow land on the moon?”
Eve relocated to Moree in 1969 to continue her work as a teacher and never left.
She has visited the pools for 17 years, and can be found at MAAC every weekday.
“We can set our clocks by Eve and her visits here at MAAC, hearing her tell tales and attribute the artesian water to her good health and longevity,” MAAC staff member Julie Rushby said.
“We can only hope that more people follow in her footsteps.”
Eve said she loved the artesian water for three reasons - her body, because she can move more easily in the water; her friendships, as she is always meeting new people; and her mind as she always has to remember everyone's names as they always remember hers.
