The event raises $30,000 annually to support the position of a local breast care nurse, and the Olive McMahon Lodge in Toowoomba.Racing Pink is the theme for the 2016 bush charity set to be held on Wednesday, August 17.
Guests will have the opportunity to dress in flamboyant race-wear finery for the over-the-top glamorous event.
Weengallon Pink Ladies Day coordinator, Emma Montgomery said while there won’t be any horses at Weengallon, punters at the luscious day of lunch and laughter will have plenty of chances to win with art auctions, prizes for best dressed and a must see fashion parade by Brisbane’s Living Silk.
The Olive McMahon Lodge provides free accommodation for country can-cer patients and their carers and the presence of a local breast care nurse is invaluable.
Nobody knows this better than North Star breast cancer survivor Pamela Schramm, who will be Weengallon’s guest speaker.
Pamela Schramm, who launched her children’s book My Strong Mummy to help families like hers cope with the cancer journey.
“I still can't believe the positive reviews on my book, so many people tell me I have really filled a gap in that market,” Pamela said.
“I am excited, I come up with the best speeches while driving along in the car, but was thinking of smuggling in a hip flask of scotch as I know I will be nervous.”
Weengallon is 310 km from Moree, and worth the drive.
Women from southern Queensland and northern New South Wales snap up the tickets.
Tickets are $60, which includes a $20 five-ticket raffle book, and available from July 12. For more information go to www.pinkladiesday.com.
