The Wanderers scored first and with points on the board the game started to settle with consistent play from both teams.
The Googars scored two to get back in front before kicking a penalty goal going into half time.
A shoulder injury to David Simpson held up the game and broke momentum a few minutes into the second half.
It may have been a jinx though with sibling rivalry bringing Simpson down. His brother Edward had been on the receiving end of jibes throughout the week but was the one who pulled off the debilitating tackle. Despite the passionate rivalry match there was some good, strong football with big hits but good sportsmanship from both teams. Once Brewarrina started to get momentum they completed their sets and came out to score a couple of tries before the Wanderers hit back and took their points to 18.
Brewarrina ended up with three late tries to finish the score. Standout players for Newtown were Edward Pitt and Kyle Hunt while Guy Shillingsworth received the three points for Brewarrina.
